Alexander makeover and more...

$12

This is the amount of money that Alexander spent to get a complete makeover.

C$ 55 for a pair of flip flops.
C$ 90 for the double sided pants.
C$ 10 for some underwear.
C$ 10 for his socks.
C$ 40 for a T-shirt.
C$ 10 for a back pack for his old stuff.
C$ 20 for a buzz cut.

total: $12,05

(Thank you Joseph and everybody else helping for making this possible!)

The hardest part was getting the haircut!
When I gave him the money to go to the 'barberia' they refused to serve him.
First he needed to take a shower, wash his hair and put on some fresh clothes!

Compare his new look with the picture in the next message!
He's wearing flip flops again!
No more hurtful feet in the evening from walking on dirt and bad roads.
In a couple of days he would like to go all the way up north, to Nueva Segovia.
Almost a full day on the buses. There he hopes to find his younger sister whom he hasn't seen in five years.
He promised me he would stop sniffing glue the day he arrived in Nueva Segovia.
Let us hope he will stop. I have seen what it does to these kids.

Alexander and Jose Angel had a discussion about going up north.
Jose Angel said that he had to take care of himself, otherwise he would lead the same sad life as he has been living here.
He said: If you don't change, our lives will be the same anywhere we live.
Alexander said: What do you know!
But I suppose Jose Angel, although he's only fourteen, knows.
He has been living in Nindri, Managua and Granada. I suppose that gives you some experience in life!
Anyway, I do hope Alexander gets to see his sister.
And I do hope he will be able to go to school or something.
I'm sure his life there will be better that the one he's had so far...

Thanks for helping out !!
