Fliki.

Fliki, a twenty something year old chavalo came by today to have his legs taken care of.
Often I have wondered where everybody gets all those cuts and bruises.
Sometimes young guys have awful scars.
I suppose climbing trees and playing adventurous games is a big part of these cases.
Kids here are not as overprotected as in the States or Europe.
No rubber carpets under the rusty swings here!

So, Fliki came by with a swollen knee. Bad cuts and bruises on both legs and hurtful ribs.
When I asked him what had happened, he told me he had tried to mount a bull in the Centro Turistico.
Apparently they pay people $10 if they can mount a bull in front of the public.
$10 buys 10 hot meals, so this is a very important sum of money.
Fliki thought he had it, but he hadn't!
If you can't mount the crazy bulls, you get zilch, nada...
Which Fliki got... and the bruises...!
