What a day...

Alexander came by today complaining about continuous nose bleeding.
Yesterday the police had beaten him severely on the back and on his neck with these bleedings as a result.
He was also worried about the police's plans to round up another group of street children to clean up the Centro Turistico at the lake so that it would be presentable for the tourists for Semana Santa (Easter).
He would love to escape to Segovia, where his aunt lives with his sister, to avoid having to work like a slave in the burning sun without any compensation whatsoever, not even some water to drink.

Marvin needed some attention too. Just a head ache.
So a couple of aspirins did the trick.

But the worst was Jose Angel. This morning he was eating his meal at Doña Esperanza's comedor.
Then they spent a little time being brothers, talking, until Eynar had to return to Managua for his English classes. Before he left, he gave Jose Angel a big hug telling him to be careful with selling "chicles" (chewing gum).
Only an hour later Jose Angel arrives here on the doorstep with a nasty cut in his forehead.
While he was selling 5 chicles to a lady on the market ($0.25) when a drunk hit him on the head with a rock.
He stole Jose Angel's earnings of the day ($2.50). The lady chased him away and cleaned Jose Angel up.
But he needed to go to the hospital anyway.
Result... two stitches and a horrible headache.
Isn't it terrible... the ones whom are trying to make a little money get mugged in broad daylight by thugs, too lazy to earn some money of their own. One has to admire Jose Angel's perseverance. I can't even count the times he's had an experience like this on two hands.
And he was only trying to earn a little money to by paint for his hobby... making art!
They don't even bother going to the police station any more. Nothing ever happens anyway. And I can know. After our laptop got stolen, we went to file a report. We had fingerprints, video images and still shots of the thief, but the Granada Police didn't even bother to come by the hotel.
We found out whom had stolen the laptop... even whom had bought it, in exchange for drugs.
The only thing they tried to find out was how we got the information!!
So, why bother filing a complaint...
It keeps the crime statistics low of course... not filing complaints!
