Winter time ...

Here, we are in the middle of winter.
We haven't had this much rain in years.
It is a tough year for those whom sleep in the streets.
I think I never had to hand out so many pills and vitamins ever.
Everybody seems to be having a cold or is feeling weak...

Yesterday, I had a 10am appointment at the Dentists.
I walked over there after visiting a friend.
When I arrived I didn't know if I was late or early!
For 15 minutes I was asking people about the time.
It is a very busy street, lots of people walking by the whole time.
But nobody seemed to know what time it was!
Nobody seemed to care...
What a difference with the situation back home where everybody is constantly looking on their watch!
I often think: They still have to invent stress here!
Isn't that wonderful!

Junior, a streetkid came by to borrow 2 cordobas to make the sum complete that he needed to buy a box of chewing gum.
I know him for some years now, so I gladly helped him out.
Later he paid me back with two "Chickles".
He's a good business man, although he's only 10!

Jose Angel had been shining shoes.
In Nicaragua, there were no classes Monday and Tuesday.
Fathers day and Dia de Maestros (teacher day!)
With the money he made, he bought two second hand pants and a baseball cap.
He was proud that he paid for them himself!

Sometimes the guys don't have a whole lot, but they still have their pride!
