The same song ...

Gabriel seems to be slipping away, deeper and deeper in his glue world.
I hope that I'm wrong.
His health is going down the drain, he's coughing and feeling bad constantly.
Every couple of days, he needs to go to the hospital with new complaints.
But daily, I see him sitting on the curb sniffing his glass jar of glue.
I told him over and over to let go of the glue, but as any website will tell you, it is hard, if not impossible to do so without professional help.

Six months ago, I was so proud of him.
He looked healthy, had a girlfriend and stayed away from the stuff.
He smiled his big smile, the one you can see on the large picture at the top of the page, and was happy.
Now, there's nothing of that left.
Gabriel is just an empty shell feeling miserable.

When I see this going on, I wonder what might have happened to so many other Chavalos in the streets. Familiar faces that I haven't seen for weeks, months or even years.
One can only hope that they have ended up well, living with their families again, or doing a job here or there...
But one knows better of course.

We can only do our best, and that's what we do.
And you can still help with that.
Use the paypal link to send over some financial help to Nicaragua.
You can even specify where you'd prefer it to be used...
The Chavalos in the streets of Granada, or it can go to Casa Xalteva, a Spanish school which helps prevent the children of poor families to end up on the streets.
