Diego Manuel's leg is resting on a "leg lifter" and has to wait for his surgical site to heal before a cast can be put on before he leaves the hospital. He will have a wheelchair today on loan from another patient so that he can go about at the hospital rather that laying down on bed all day and night!
I saw the X-rays of his pre and post operated leg.
Both looked very disturbing! But at least the healing can start now.
I was surprised to see that the metal plate was so big, held in place by 8 large bolts.
Much to my surprise, the hospital had given him a pair of muletas (crutches) that another patient had left behind.
Diego Manuel told me that he needed to get out of the hospital asap, after being stuck to his bed for over three weeks.
He told me that he was going to try to come by the hotel tomorrow to see me.Too much too soon? Just you try to stop a 24 year old that hasn't left his room for 25 days!
