One of those days for Jose Angel...

Yesterday Jose Angel went to the Amigos Center to play Baseball. From Monday to Friday the center is open from 8:00am to 3:00pm. It is closed on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.
On Monday, the kids play beisbol (baseball), on Friday they play footbol (soccer).
It is something they always look forward to.
So, yesterday, after reading and writing classes they went to the Multi Estadio to play.
His team lost, but that doesn't matter at all. They had loads of fun!
After lunch: rice, beans and baked banana, Jose Angel offered to water the plants.
Doing so he accidentally broke one of the little glass panes from a window.
The punishment: being suspended for 3 days!
No classes, no food, no showers... all because of a $0.75 piece of glass that he didn't even break on purpose.
I think this is out of proportion. I offered to pay for the glass, but they don't allow that.
Juan Jose was very sad. Especially because he had been calculating how the money that one of our guests had left for him could last as long as possible. Having to buy food for three days instead of eating for free at the center messed up all his plans.
Such is life in the tropics...
Such is life when you live in the streets.

Last week I had given Jose Angel a little blue blanket that one of the guests had left behind.
It was a blanket from Continental Airlines, but he told me he had never slept that good.
It was so comfortable! The second night a (bigger) kid that goes to the Center as well stole the blanket from him.
Yesterday I found another one of those blankets. A red AA one.
Jose Angel picks it up when he goes to sleep and brings it back in the morning.
I asked him where he sleeps now. I hadn't seen him at his usual place.
The owners of that house showed up and didn't want him to sleep on their pavement.
Luckily they only use the house for special occasions like the Hipico (Horse show).
So, in a couple of days he can move back to where he feels comfortable.
Now I had to send him in the streets without knowing where he was going to end up.
I hated to let him go... especially because it was a dreary, rainy night.
Such is life when you live in the streets...
