Before & After...

Many, many thanks to the people who have been bringing household stuff over, or who sent things by mail or wired money to help make the Chavalos house a 'home'!
First you see the 'before' picture...
Then the 'after' pictures. Little by little the house is getting cozier.

It is great to see how these youngsters take care of the house. The floors are squeaky clean, the dishes are done and the clothes are drying on the wash line.

They would make any mother proud!
Except their own, sadly.

They have the most essential things, Tables, chairs, beds with mattresses, garbage can. But also plates, cups, knives and forks.
What's missing are blankets, sheets, towels, pots & pans, a stove, maybe in the future, a refrigerator...

Isn't it great, the feeling that you're really doing something good for somebody who deserves a break after a life of sleeping on concrete pavements, not knowing if you'll have something to eat that day.
Giving these guys a better life is so rewarding. The opportunity for them to attend college. (yes, they go every week day.) A nice bed to sleep in...
The guys are very happy, and very grateful.

They realize it is a once in a lifetime opportunity, and they wouldn't want to mess it up!

Thanks again for everybody who helped to achieve this dream house!!

In less than a month the rains will be coming to Nicaragua. This will be the first time in 8 years (!!) that Jose Angel will sleep in a real house, in the 'wooden' bed he dreamed off for a long time!
