And one of our guests took a couple of guys to see the "Payasos" (clowns) and elephants, ...
The entrance was $5. Most people here have to work two days to earn that kind of money.
Anyway, in the morning, one of the street children had come by to pick up a bag of empty soda pop cans. We had a whole bunch of them, and he got C$10 for them ($0.50).
He bought some blood sausage with tortillas for him and a couple of buddies.
And in the evening they all went to see the Circus!!!
Needles to say it was the event of the year!
Trapezium acts, magicians, clowns, horses, tigers, ...
It was just great.
On their way out, there was a beggar with a bad foot asking for some change.
Everybody walked by saying 'no', or 'sorry'.
Except... One of the street kids!
He took the only two pesos that he had out of his pocket and handed them to the old man.
The cordobas that he had earned by selling the empty cans.
Our guest felt bad because he hadn't given anything, and this street kid who has nothing gave everything he had. Of course you can't help everybody, and he did do his share of helping out people by buying grasshoppers, drawings and bracelets.
But still... it makes you think!
