My promise to you...

It was a cloudy and rainy day today.
To be honest, it IS the rainy season, but we hadn't seen a drop of rain in about two weeks.
While Jose Angel was locked up for almost 6 weeks in the HAT center in Managua, he made a promise that one day he would go back to treat the smallest of the kids who lived at the HAT to a real piñata.
From day one he stayed there, he was touched by the innocent young children who were abandoned by their parents.
About 20 in total, aged between 3 and 7 years old.
Found on the streets, nobody ever claimed them.
So, this morning he left for Managua on the chicken bus.
He bought a lot of cookies, sodas and a nice sized piñata with loads of 'caramelos' on the Managua market de Huembes and surprised all the little ones with a beautiful afternoon. Everybody had so much fun. Most of them hadn't had a piñata in their lives.
Nothing but smiles and laughter when somebody missed the doll, filled with treats again!
And this way Jose Angel turned an otherwise dreary day into a nice and sunny experience for everybody! Only one girl hit the piñata doll when it burst open and released all it's goodies... but everybody won!

In less than a month Jose Angel has his own birthday coming up.
On the 13th of October to be exact.
He himself has never had a piñata, or a birthday party.
Until last year, he had no clue from what year he was. From what month or day.
He only knew what his mother once told him... that he was born early in the morning.
It was still dark...
He was a small boy when she told him that, but he never forgot.
