Meet Ana Maria ...

This is a picture of Ana Maria. She had visited the Centro De Salud (Health Center) today and needed some medication.

Thanks to the Chavalo fund she got what she needed.
Although she's still very young, she's had a really rough life.
It's tough living in the streets as a street kid, but being a girl
makes it even more complicated.

Ana Maria had a baby a little while ago. The father was another street kid. The baby was destined to lead a rough and unhappy life. Luckily Child Care placed the little girl in a nice family. But both Ana Maria and Marvin were devastated with their decision. And both tried to commit suicide. Marvin slit his wrists and jumped from a roof. Ana Maria took poison. Fortunately, both failed in their attempt.

Needless to say that Ana Maria was very happy with her medication. She asked me to say "thank you" to you all of you out there!

Marvin came by today as well. He needed a buck to have his hair cut.
Half an hour after he left with the money, he came back proudly to show me his new look.
They don't have to, but they do it anyway as to prove to me that they didn't spend it on glue.
