Gabriel & Alexander...

Yesterday, Gabriel came by.
He didn't look good... at all.
He said: "Call an ambulance... I'm dieing."
Then, I noticed that he was holding a big jar of glue in his left hand.
I told him: "Of course you're dieing. You are sniffing glue.
Five years from now, nobody will even remember you."
"That stuff is eating away your brain and your organs.
No wonder you always are in pain."
As long as you don't give that up... it will get worse and worse."

I gave him the money to take a bus to the hospital.
If all the street kids whom have health issues go there, I bet they have their hands full!
Anyway... this morning, when I drove from my farm to the city, I noticed Gabriel sitting on the bench in front of the Japanese Hospital.
He was waiting for the bus to Granada.
It was good to see that he actually used the money to go the the hospital.
And they had kept him all night.
It means that there probably was something serious going on.
While I gave him a ride back into town, I tried to convince him to think hard about sniffing the glue.
Not that it will change anything, but maybe if I keep repeating it enough, one day he might get the idea!

Alexander needed some attention at the hospital as well.
He needed a drip with some vitamins and some medication for the problems that he was having.
I asked him to bring the report from the Hospital, but they didn´t give it to him.
He did come by today to show me the needle hole and the band aid that they had put on it.
And he looked a lot healthier than he did yesterday!

I would like to say a special "Thank You" to John Charles from Costa Rica for sending us a generous donation! It buys us a couple of weeks worth of deliceous meals for the children.
I shouldn't say children, as one of the people enjoying Doña Esperanza's cooking is "Borucho".
He's an older gentleman whom has been living in the streets of Granada for the last 20 something years.
He's probably the oldest "Chavalo" in town!
