It's Saturday...

Yes, it's Saturday... a day where a bunch of the Chavalos are looking forward to.
This morning, even before Doña Esperanza had opened up her food stand, some of the Chavalos came by, and they already knew exactly what they were going to order!

We called the Profesora of Jose Angel yesterday, And sent a text message to ask if there (finally) was a copy of Jose Angel's diploma available. Still no diploma!
Without the diploma, he can't get a diploma in his new school...
Eynar was already trying to get hold of that paper a month before he drowned.
And that was well over 4 months ago!
With all the money spent on buses, taxis and phone calls, they could have bought a LOT of rice and beans.
Not to mention all the hours lost traveling and waiting.
Such is life in the tropics, I guess.

Evin came by yesterday... barefooted.
He was asking for chinelas (flip-flops).
I told him that I had given the last ones out a couple of days ago.
The only pair I had left was a small kids' pair.
Way to small for Evin.
But he told me that he could have them changed at the market.
Good luck, I told him, handing him the pair of mini flip-flops!
They weren't even sold on the market... the Wall mart label was still dangling from one of them.
But 5 minutes later, he returned with a nice blue pair of basic flip-flops!
They even gave him C$20 extra because they could sell the mini pair for more money than the blue pair was worth!
Enough to go and get a hot meal at the market.
I guess it was Evin's lucky day!
