I don't often have the chance to talk to Doña Esperanza. Both she and myself have very busy lives.
But yesterday, just before she started cooking, we had a short chat.
How lucky she'd always been with her wounds healing within three days and she'd hardly ever been sick, ...
Just recently, her sister had passed away.
It is never easy to loose one of your loved ones, especially when you're really close.
Her sister had lost a finger first. Then another one.
Then her hand needed to be amputated, than a foot, her arm, one leg, the other leg, ...
There was a lot of suffering, pain and mental stress...
Doña Esperanza told me that she is up there now, in heaven, and God is taking good care of her.
With a dozen of "her" kids in jail, Doña Esperanza thought it was a good idea to send someone over to the prison with all the freshly cooked hot meals.
That somebody needed to have an ID, otherwise, there's no way that they let you in.
Fortunately, Marvincito had gotten his ID a while ago, thanks to some sponsoring of one of our guests.
He had to sign a bunch of forms, one for each person he had brought food for.
A very nice and unexpected surprise for the Chavalos.
It still isn't clear why suddenly they needed to be locked up.
I hear they will be released tomorrow, maybe then, we'll know more.
There'll probably be a very good reason for them being put away... we'll see.
Thank you for reading the Chavalos blog...
See you soon!
