First of all... Thank you John for your donation to make Jose Angel's upcoming birthday an unforgettable one!
He, and some of his buddies came by to say hello last Saturday.
They were all carrying a little bag with stuff.
When I asked what it was, they told me they were condoms.
I thought it was a joke, because some of the kids were hardly 14, and there they were, showing me a bag of condoms, lube and a very informative brochure on how to put them on and how to have safe sex.
Then, I thought... what a good thing.
They can't learn about the risks of unprotected sex at school, so the initiative was a daring one, but very cool indeed!
Many times, I have seen pregnant teen girls, and a while ago, Ana Maria carrying a baby on her arms.
She's still a kid herself, with no money for food, let alone pampers, food and medication for her baby girl.
The baby was sleeping on the concrete pavements of Granada...
It was only a matter of time before Mi Familia (Child Care) took away the baby and placed it in a caring family.
Both she and the father tried to comit suicide after this happened, but they fortunately failed.
The cuts weren't deep enough, and the roof wasn't high enough.
I hope it was an interesting lesson for the Chavalos.
They all took it very seriously... no gigling or uneasyness!
Let us hope that when the urge arises, they will come prepared!
