Chuck arrived with tons of supplies from Delaware, USA. I wonder how he managed to get everything on the plane and to the hotel. We're good for a while now with medication, school supplies and even clothing articles. I hear that a couple of boxes are still on the way as well. "stuck in customs!" We'll see when those will get here. They contain enough flip flops to last several months!
THANK YOU SO MUCH to everybody who made this possible!!!
And that is not all. Today, he visited Carita Feliz. A big project that helps (street)kids, as long as they go to school and do their best. Tomorrow, he will visit some of the poorest families to see what can be done there to help them out. What a great man!
Today, I got a touching email about a good friend from Palm Springs. For some years now, he relied on dialysis. Now, because of an extremely low blood count, they had to stop any further treatment.
Not only that, but the 10 or so bags of blood that they gave him had no positive effect on him.
Frank took the brave decision to stop waisting any more perfectly good blood on him and save it for somebody who needs it more than him. This afternoon, they transferred him to the Odyssey Hospice in Palm Desert.
Frank was a guest here in the hotel many times. He had great stories to tell with a great sense of dry humor to match! He always has helped out his "little angels". Making sure that they were able to go to school, had enough to eat and had a roof over their heads. Three things that they were never sure of before.
The boys wrote him a touching letter, and this part really shows how much he meant to the brothers:
Muchas gracias Papa Frank por todo que has hecho por nosotros. Te amamos y nunca te olvidamos Eres en nuestras corazones para siempre!
Thank you so much Papa Frank for everything that you have done for us. We love you and will never forget you. You will always be in our hearts!
For the boys, it was important that he got to read this before his health is deteriorating so much that he can't communicate any more. Doctors said that that will only be a matter of days.
For Frank, it was important to know that his Angels are all going to school and are doing well.
Bruce, his brother is with him all the time. Gary, a good friend, took the pictures of the boys off the wall in his house so that they are close to Frank. Being part of their future has always been of great importance for Frank.
Frank... it is a real honor to have known you and to have you as a friend.
Courage, my friend, on this last trip.
I will make sure that your angels continue to study and make something of their lives.
