Lots of happy kids thanks to Doña Esperanza's cooking. A lot of the street children are always looking forward to Saturday morning because they know a steaming hot delicious meal is waiting for them at the comedor. The boy in the middle, Maikel, is holding a brand new pair of flip flops from the "Delaware shipment"!
One of the youngest kids went back to Managua, and already there is someone new to take his place.
It is difficult to understand why these children are abandoned and have to live in the streets. Especially now, during the rainy season.
Alexander had stomach and fungus problems and needed to go to the hospital a couple of times. He's taking vitamins now. The reason for the skin fungus to appear: shortage of certain vitamins.
Evin had a nasty wound on his forehead and also needed medical assistance in the hospital as well. Sometimes, they refuse to tell me the reason of their wounds. Maybe it is for the best that I don't know!
Probably the most remarkable event of the week is that Gabriel returned from the dead. He was in an institute to get rid of his glue sniffing habit. As has been the case before, the stabbing of Gabriel was a wild rumor that started living a life on it's own. After Gabriel's old grandmother had been sad and lonely for a while after hearing the unfortunate news of him being killed, she couldn't believe her eyes when she saw him standing in front of her again. Poor Gabriel didn't have a clue about all these stories going round. He told me later: They told my poor abuelita (granny) that I was dead, and I wasn't. She was ever so sad. Well, luckily for the both of them, it turned out well.
