It is so sad... Medardo went to Costa Rica to get a better life and then this happens.
It is always sad, but especially sad because he was such a nice and social guy.
Rest in Peace, Medardo, and I'm so sorry that you life had to end so soon and in such a way.
Some people give the street children money instead of food or milk, ...
Here is an example why not to do this:
This is what happens with the money... the kids buy Guaro or glue. Guaro is watered down pure alcohol that tastes really bad.
The only reason why they drink it is to pass out as soon as possible.
Forgetting their sad lives, forgetting their hunger.
When you visit Granada, or any other place with street children, please remember that they will not spend it on good things.
If you want to make sure that they eat food, or drink milk, ... you'll have to buy it yourself. Scenes like this happen too often, unfortunately.
People think that they do well, when in reality they don't.
One of our guests donated a whole bunch of rice, beans and oil to a dozen families.
They will not have to worry about being hungry for a while.
The money they save this way, they can spend on their electricity bills or on their debts at the pulperia (grocery store).
Thank you so much for doing so.
Diego Manuel is still at the hospital. They took out the pus from his wounds. The stab wound was so big that they had to put several stitches in. It was this wound that started the whole infection.
In a couple of day, we will see his arm in a whole different way, I hope. Thank you for sending him messages for strength and get well soon! And thank you to those who sent a little something to cover the hospital costs and the transportation.
He's still in a lot of pain, but he's only worried about missing all his classes and not finishing the house before the big rains come.
And the money that was supposed to be spent on the repairs of the house, ... now has to go to medical costs.
Take care, everybody. See you soon...
