Although all the statistics provided by the Nicaraguan Government prove otherwise, it seems to me that there has never been so much poverty around during the 11 years that I have been here.
Many people are very inventive, doing people's laundry by hand on a ribbed piece of concrete, minding people's bikes in front of a store.
Or, like this guy here, dragging over debris to fill up the potholes in the streets that city hall has no money for to repair. He hopes that the drivers will appreciate his efforts by giving him a couple of cents.
The things people have to do to find the money to buy some rice and beans to feed their family.
When you see this, can you believe that people don't have the money to buy medicine for their children.
