I was sure that during my trip to Costa Rica, the medical staff of the Japanese Hospital would have operated the leg of Diego Manuel. But no.
Today, I received a plead for the money to buy the nuts and bolts that they have to use to repair his leg.
After 19 days of horrendous pains and sleepless nights.
The letter is touching and he feels abandoned by those who were supposed to operate/help him.
Here is part of his letter:
I need help to buy bolts that they will put in my leg that is broken. Because 19 days already passed by that I have been here in this hospital... and I can no longer stand the pain. They kept on telling me that they would operate on my leg on Monday, but on Monday, nothing happened (and it is already Friday again now!). That day has passed by, and here I still am, suffering from the pain from the fracture. The injections help to calm down the pain for a little while.
I haven't even seen my little girl during all this time. From the money you gave me last time, I have been able to buy medication to keep the pain down and a little bit of my food. Yours truly, Diego Manuel.
Wouldn't you just love to be taken care of like this on your next hospital visit!
This is incredible, unworthy for any human being.
The newspapers are trying to make the people believe that things changed for the better since the last elections, but let me tell you that they haven't... at all.
Before the elections, I never heard of horror stories like this.
And this is not the only one, I hear them regularly.
Normally, poor people like Diego Manuel would just be another number in the unexplained death statistics.
But thanks to your help, he is still alive. Just imagine how many are not this fortunate...
