What now...

During my visa run to Costa Rica I received a call from Francis, letting me know that Jose Angel hadn't shown up for his breakfast or dinner. Somebody told him that he's in jail! Supposedly one of the other streetkids stole a handbag from a lady while she was leaving a restaurant. So the police found nothing better than to take all the kids they could find to jail. It's almost incredible that they would put a 14 year old in a cell with a bunch of other guys. But then again, if there is no I.D., it's hard to know someones age. Anyway... I'll try to find out the details when I get back tomorrow. Hopefully Jose Angel will already have been released by then. Two or three days in a cell with concrete beds, no mattress or linen and a hole in the ground as a toilet and no way to shower will be enough of a traumatic experience for a 14 year old.
