It must have been very embarrassing for him to present himself like that at the hotel.
Marvincito had had an enormous unexpected bowel movement, and the proof was running out of his trouser legs.
Buckets, it seemed.
Luckily I still had a pair of pants in my box of used clothes.
The "Bissel" box that I keep with clothes has proved itself useful many a time!
There's always somebody with a need for something.
Instead of handing everything out at once, keeping a supply here was a good idea.
Anyway... Marvin went to the lake to "freshen up".
I took care of the sidewalk with some buckets of water and some Clorox.
And Ana Maria came by later on to ask for a cab fare to take Marvin to the hospital.
He was still a little to embarrassed to come and ask for it himself.
A little later, Alexander showed up.
His face looked like he was in agony.
When I asked him what was going on, he told me that he'd been urinating blood all morning.
It was so painful he was afraid to pee at all.
He looked at me with his big brown eyes, head tilted...
Please, you have to help me... I am too young to die.
Of course, I gave him the money and the bus fare to get his next shot.
Hopefully this one will help him get rid of the infection...
These kids are so young, but all of them have had their share of trouble and pain.
If not physically, mentally.
Being abandoned by your parents is not unusual here, but it must be tough, and leave it's marks...
It also steers the kid's future into a whole new direction...
Gone are the days of going to school...
Sleeping in a comfortable bed and eating healthy food...
You can't believe their faces when they see that there's somebody out there who cares about them.
Like I said before...
It doesn't take a whole lot to help somebody, or to make a (little) change into somebody's life!
A hot meal, the bus fair to the hospital or a used pair of pants...
